Presentation

Acko Laurinn is a French painter born in 1961 in Paris. She lives and works on the edge of Paris.

First paintings in 1990. First galleries exhibiting his work in 1997.

His work is exhibited at international fairs: Art London - Art Miami - Art Toronto - Moscow World Fine Art - Palm Beach Jewelry - Sofa New York - Sofa Chicago.

After a first short fgurative period, Acko turned towards abstraction with a work of materials inspired by his stays in Asia. An introspection in the form of interlocking squares crossed by paths that direct the gaze to their center.

She desecrates oil painting by inserting recycled elements. We enter a world where the moment is triturated, dramatized and celebrated in a combination of materials, shapes and colors.

From 2004 to 2007, she set up her workshop in Vietnam for three winters. Appearance of themes from the lunar calendar. In 2008 and 2009, she discovered New York, mixed everything and invented her character: the Bubala, a

declination from his Chinese astrological sign: the Metal Ox. Acko erects his characters / beasts with chimerical horns and their facetious faces upright in their boots. Alter ego and subjects of his work in constant metamorphosis, the Bubalas and their variations offer an opening

shifted on the intimate and on the world.

His work is a questioning through pictorial gesture and words. After having exploited the ideograms a little, she turns to her roots: Latin or Breton. Words reinforce the meaning of the canvas and play a graphic role. Then she turns to the portrait, frontal, in oil, at the bottom often covered with sheets of aluminum or copper metal. The mirror effect destroys everything that could interfere with the face to make it emerge from the canvas in an effect D.

Inspired by the petulance of pop art and the sumptuous sobriety of Fra Angelico, in the era of selfies at all costs, she tries to perpetuate the gaze of others between quasi cannibalism, act of love and mise en abyme. “Cerebrum spontex” is how Acko sums up his work and translates his motto in a whimsical way: “My brain is a sponge with a scratchy side. ".
