Valerie Cheno

Cheno works steel. She creates her own material, in fact her language. Creations, unique, are declined in themed series. Thus is born an imaginary world, poetic and humorous, full of surprises, that can be interpreted in many ways.

The realized works are of all sizes, from the monumental (more than 3 meters) to the tiny (jewelry), may be steel paintings, bas-reliefs, triptychs or polyptychs, sculptures to wear (Theater, Opera), objects of sacred art, furniture... It's a world to share.

All the sculptures are unique. Cheno performs them alone in her workshop, using several iron working techniques, sometimes close to goldsmithing and arc welding. Everything is thought, drawn, structured. The creations are declined in series with theme where the ladybug became little by little signature.

All can be placed outside. Before the sculpture, Cheno made many paintings, trompe l'oeil and mosaics. For more than two decades, Cheno has had a lot

of personal exhibitions in the PACA region: Nice (Phoenix Park, 34 sculptures monumental for 3 years - Permanent exhibition of a giant ladybug), La Gaude (Dome), Carros (Permanent Exhibition - Media Library), Monaco (Exotic Garden), Saint Paul Vence (Biennial, Collegiate), Villefranche (Sainte Elizabeth Chapel) and collective; also abroad (Liechtenstein, Italy, Japan, and even a ladybug in Korea).

She has been a member of AIAP Unesco in Monaco for 10 years. She is also in Saint-Paul de Vence, member of the Circle of Artists and exposes in gallery and outside. Cheno has two Gardens of Permanent Sculptures close to her studio.
