Didier Hamey

Born in: 1962



Didier Hamey was born in 1962. He is a printmaker and artist living and working in Montreuil.

His parents supported his talent and he enrolled at the age of 16 in a Graphic Design program in Belgium; this is where he entered into contact with the artistic practice, guided by his teachers, personalities of the art world.

After working in advertising, he is accepted in the Beaux-Arts School in Paris. It is in a large format drawing studio in the Beaux-Arts that he discovers his passion for cutting objects and materials he finds in order to leave his trace. The most basic tools are the ones cho fit best his incisive cuts.

His work is acquired by several public and private collections: the Fond National d'Art Contemporain, the Bibliothèque Nationale, the Musée de la Gravure in Gravelines. He has produces numerous shows abroad: in Germany, Hong Kong, Spain and Hungary.

In 2000, Casa de Velazquez in Madrid awards him a grant. This is when he produces his ?Spanish travel diaries?.

He has also realized the illustration of the annual report of the Banque de France; the Mille et Une Nuits Publishing House commissioned him to illustrate Nerval?s ?Les Chimères?.
