Born in 1986 in Guadeloupe. Lives and works in Guadeloupe and Paris.

Graduate of the National School of Arts in Paris Cergy, he obtained in 2010 the DNAP (National Diploma of Visual Arts). His work was notably discovered by the general public at the Salon de Montrouge 2012 in France, and at ArtBemao 2013 in Guadeloupe. He was resident of the Cité Internationale des Arts from December 2014 to May 2016, on a proposal from Régine Cuzin. In 2015 his paintings were presented in Paris in group exhibitions at the Galerie Nathalie Obadia and Galerie LJ.

Samuel Gélas' pictorial approach is similar to narrative figuration and pop art in a form that is both playful, poetic and critical of the world. Most of his works question human nature through its various forms of animosity and animality in a corpus working with force on the issue of urban, social and cultural violence.
