Presentation

Born in 1995 in Dieppe, Etienne Quesnay grew up in the countryside in Normandy where his father passed on his passion for drawing. Self-taught, he began to paint at an early age to express himself through his sketches and brushstrokes.

For nearly 10 years, Etienne has been living and creating in Paris. It was upon his arrival in the capital that he returned more seriously to his lifelong passion: painting.

One hit after another, - in parallel with a job in the music industry that he will eventually leave -, he shapes his creative universe. First in watercolour, then in oil, his two favorite techniques.

He thinks about his artist's soul and draws its contours around a dissociative concept: his figurative self, expressed by delicate female characters that he uses to let his emotions show through them, and his abstract self, by which he reveals his "face", a universal face, affixed mechanically, like a signature. It is through these means that he finds his balance.

Revealed in 2019 via Instagram, carried by the online art gallery Artsper and national media such as MAD or Konbini, he abandoned his job to devote himself fully to his passion.

On the strength of his debut, he was exhibited and then represented in 2021 by a Parisian gallery before leaving to self-produce his exhibition, in partnership with his partner and painter Gabrielle Rul. A first for the two young artists, relayed by the Official Spain. They will end the year in Moscow, at the famous "Moscow Manege", to exhibit ten of their works in front of more than 35,000 visitors.

Still in 2021, Etienne Quesnay is one of Artsper's Best Sellers 2021, ranked among the "New & Remarkable Artists".

In 2022, he takes the time to evolve and shape his art. At the beginning of the year, he exhibited with the Moleskine foundation at the Palais de Tokyo and was also part of the Copelouzos Collection, which holds works by major artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Damien Hirst and Roy Licheinstein.

Recently, Etienne Quesnay joined Luciano Benneton's Imago Mundi foundation.
