Richard Petit is a French photographer born in 1957, in Briey, Lorraine. He currently lives and works in Arles.
After studying mechanics and philosophy, Richard Petit chose to devote himself to photography, his lifelong passion and he graduated with honors from the National Superior School of Photography. After his studies he moved to Arles, he likes to share his knowledge by taking part on ateliers, workshops and giving courses.
Showing traces or signs of human activity in the landscapes, his collection called "Cheap Land" plays on the contrast between the ordinary and the sublime while in his most recent collection called "Beyond the Cosmos" the artist recalls his childhood memories about his fascination for the exploration of space.
Richard Petit has multiply his personal and collective exhibitions in France and abroad, since 2006. His photographs are displayed in private and public collections (at the Musée de l’Image, Epinal ; L’Imagerie / centre d’art, Lannion, etc.)
