Hugo Biebrach

My name is Hugo Biebrach, I was born in Lille where I still live. I started painting just 3 years ago. I started out on my own for a whole year at first, reading many books on the subject of oil painting, even going so far as to follow tutorials from talented Russian painters on the net.

Which were obviously not translated, I tried in vain to understand what painters could express through their gestures. I then learned the classic bases of oil painting under the teaching of the painter Arnaud Seynaeve, in particular by reproducing classical works under his enlightened advice.

Thus taking up various challenges in order to extract multiple techniques. If I like colorful and resolutely modern work, I am keen to keep and explore ever more deeply a technical work that is more classic in its approach. Which I never want to oust by simple modern and technically basic graphics, which I only see as "window dressing".

Indeed, I abhor the obvious and venerate the subtlety as well as the complexity, so my work must be contemporary while displaying a technical quality resulting from the classic. The challenge that I wish to take up, which thus guides my research, is to achieve the ideal fusion between modern graphics and classical technique.

Thus, in addition to the range of techniques used during the realization of one of my works, I multiply the superimpositions by a large number of subtle glazes in which modern graphic effects are inserted, in order to bring a true richness in every inch of the work.
