Nikolas Fouré is an artisan. His main tool is intellectual, but his activity is concrete and material too. The idea of vanity, with the same meaning as that from classical painting, becomes a cover, his genome is made out of steel, the trip is a photographic trick, upside down.
Nikolas Fouré is the inventor of Yaourt Light and a constructor of wooden cubes. In his practice, all materials are noble, every action has a meaning. Everyday objects, shelves, tables or chairs are as important as technology, the virtual is just an instance of the material world, the plywood, chipboard, formica or plexiglas are declinations of a code language, connected to the coming of the event, that we hope for and are afraid of at the same time.
At the Louvre, at the Apple Expo or at Leroy Merlin, Nikolas Fouré gets supplies, and they are not only objects, but also shapes - who can also appear from of a ceiling with wonderful moulding, or become ghosts in the two-dimensional theater of the white on white prints.
His artworks attract the look for some strange reason at first, for some surprising, attractive or disconcerting idea. But, if this approach is a part of his work, it is also the invitation to meet and join a more secret, unstable and intimate strangeness.There are often rhythms that bear this sensation, the relationship to time nourrishes the infinitesimal game of material and imaginary, reality and fiction.
