Pierre Ambrogiani is a French painter born in 1907 in Ajaccio and died in Allauch in 1985. He comes from a modest family who settled in the old popular neighborhood of Marseille. In 1920, he was hired by the Marseille-Colbert as a carrier of dispatches, and then as postman from 1928 to 1950 by the Post Office in Marseille. In 1936, helped by his friends Andre Malraux an Louis Aragon, he was ones of the creators of the first house of culture in province with his friends the painters from Marseille, Antoine Serra, Louis Toncini, Francois Diana. Pierre Ambrogiani was also friends with Marcel Pagnol and Jean Giano whom he met near his old studio in the Old Post.

With an expressionist style, he is characterized by a pallete of fauve and violet colors. He painted Provencial landscapes as well as still life and engraved also several boards to illustrate the works. In 1962, he decorated the Immaculated Conception of Maseille Church with frescoes and stained glass Windows.

A prolific artist, who has done more than 1500 paintings, seven sculptures, 1200 drawings and watercolors and 300 prints for public sales.
