Presentation

Born in 1977 in Montpellier. Lives and works in Paris.

An architect by training, Koralie quickly devoted himself full time to his artistic vocation. She develops a work above all aesthetic: she seeks to arouse in the viewer a visual emotion, provided by the harmony of colors, the perfect balance of the composition and the constant search for graphic perfection.

Koralie draws her inspiration from Japanese illustration, from the 13th century print to manga. His geishas are graphic icons mixing sensuality and modesty, elegance and tangy hues. Beyond the first naive or Japanese appearance of his work, it is the rigor of his graphics, the impeccable symmetry of his compositions, and the play of textures and materials obtained by his collages, which seduce and carry the viewer into the elegant universe of Koralie.

Folk elements from other cultures are added to his compositions: African braids, English curls, Russian dolls, Indian accessories, 16th century headdresses, kimono, chandeliers ... Koralie enjoys mixing elements from various origins and manages to create a harmony of this a priori heterogeneous association. Her geisha character eventually became a pretext for creating new sets and elaborate costumes. To do so, she uses collage, graphics, acrylics, and more recently, and oil painting, as her favorite techniques.

In parallel to her canvas production, Koralie participates in multiple fashion-related projects (Etnies, Billabong, Carhartt), and produces illustrations for magazines (Redux, Focus, Modart, Muteen, Un1que, Juxtapoz, Idea Design, Graffiti Art Magazine…). Her work has also been published in several books (Pictoplasma (vol. 3), Graffiti Women, The Art of Rebellion (vol. 2), Street Art,…). Koralie also collaborates with SupaKitch, an emerging artist like her from “street art”, whose life she shares and with whom she has been developing their clothing brand, Métroplastique since 2005, for which they jointly develop model design and artistic direction. project for two is the artistic direction of “The Big Machine”, the penultimate album of singer and songwriter Emilie Simon, as well as her upcoming tour.

After living in Brooklyn for the past few years, a period during which she exhibited widely in the USA - from San Francisco to New York, from Denver to Portland, from Philadelphia to Los Angeles - Koralie is now back in France and has settled in Paris. She does not deny her past as a “street artist”, which has helped her to publicize her work, and continues to pose her urban collages as soon as time permits.
