Elsa Pallier (El'Pallier)

I am a personified nature and culture shock . Originally from Belle-île-en-mer, I was uprooted to live in Paris. 

I was very marked by Belle-île: its great storms, its rocks of the wild coasts, its horizons, its adventures.
I drew and photographed many shadows and lights, the sea on the sand, the gigantic spider nests in the gorse ... 

In Paris I was very inspired by the architecture and the exhilarating energy of the urban space. Its rhythm, its music, its lights day and night. My work experiences the feelings of vertigo that I felt there. 

By returning to Belle-Ile regularly, I watched the horizon. Those moments when we breathe calmly gave me the strong conviction that the rest of the world is crazy. It is far away and harmless then. The tingling of the city fades and I listen to the essentials: the strong breath of winds, waves, the power of the sea, the breathing of the trees. I like to imagine life underground and underwater; a whale runs aground at Kérel. 

My paintings are in need of calm. A desire for balance, for a slow breath. A sensitive vision of the urban, human condition, of these ingenious weavings that resemble the spider nests of my childhood.
