Biography

La Loutre is a French artist born in 1967 near Lille. At the age of 12, he moved to Marseilles with his familly. When he was 15, he entered the School of Fine Arts of Aix en Provence and then the CREAR, a school of art where he learned the technique of optical illusion. He then started doing letter painting in the old port of Marseilles and then worked for Disney, as an independent, during several years, and ended up as artistic director of sets. During this same period, he traveled a lot and work in several countries, doing several optical illusions and decorative paintings for particulars as well as professionals. Tired of working for Disney, where he worked for more than 20 years, he decided to leave everything and to moved to Mayet in La Sarthe to open his own workshop there.

La Loutre's pieces are almost always done on big format, 80 cm by 116cm, he uses mostly brown shades after working for so long with color while he worked for Disney. He likes treating the moods in camaïeux, in shades, half shades, favoring the graphics and black and white. He uses only oil paint and vegetable waxes.
