Dadao

Born in 1985 in France, Dadao is a painter. He lives and works in Lyon. His origins go back to the Reunion Islands and Mauritius, and the latter has a major impact on his creations.

He initially studied graphic design and then arts before turning towards visual arts, where he obtained his bachelors degree. His influences are many, whether it's cinema, music, politics, supported by key figures like Nelson Mandela, Aime Cesaire and recently Obama.

Dadao's work mainly revolves around portraits of famous people and is extremely evocative like Basquiat, David Bowie or even Charlot.He doesn't sketch in advance, he draws portraits of these key figures by directly transcribing his feelings on the canvas. To boost his creation, he begins with a text, a music of the chosen model and goes with the flow.

Several artistic movements are mixed up on his canvases, one can perceive lively colors of Pop art, strokes of street art, strength of expressionism or spontaneity of impressionism. It's not just about the face, but its character and personality.
