Laure Parmentier

Short Bio

Laure Parmentier Chahbazian is born in Paris.

In 1987, she graduated from the Architecture school of Paris-la-Villette, where she also studied Fine Arts.

Working in both fields thereafter, the necessity to exclusively paint Evolved from 2000.

Artist Statement

Transforming the search for a taste of life into a journey, an emotion, bathing in the joy of colour and light.

Colour as emotion, as life experienced to its ultimate.

Transparencies captured through waves, through deluge, through movement.

Seeking an alchemy of colours and substance through a gestural and intuitive style, combining glazing techniques and a use of natural pigments, sublimating light, reflection, transparency and depth in a total freedom of creation.

No titles for these canvases, just a date, a moment in time of conception, permitting a freedom of interpretation for the observer, infinite possibilities therein.
