Dino Fava

In 1982, I left an intensive practice of music to enter fully into a huge wasteland, "the world of visual arts".

Enrolled in the Ecole des Beaux-arts de Cherbourg, I engaged in a personal practice focused on painting and articulating with sculpture. I was also discovering photography. During this period, what I will experience two years later at the Perpignan School of Fine Arts was developed under the name of cd :.

I was also confronted with the video (L'usine à feuille 1984, Tarzathoustra 1985).

I also participated in a Normand fanzine (le petit bourry) alongside other artists.

I obtained the fine arts diploma, mention art with the congratulations of the jury in 1987, presented a cardboard sculpture at the Hyacinthe Rigaud museum (collective exhibition), and made a first personal exhibition in Perpignan.

Fully involved in a practice where artistic experimentation took its place.

I then enrolled at the University of Rennes, where I was able to access a different approach to art.

The urge to return to daily practice was stronger, so I left college after a year.

At the beginning of 1989 I live in Caen. I have a workshop room and start the Tiger Paintings in parallel with the series called: Paintings without a precise figure.

I came almost exclusively to painting on canvas. In 1993 I changed workshops; "ovoid shapes" appeared.

The period 1994-1998 marks the beginning of photo paintings, the resumption of engraving, also punctuated by a few personal exhibitions (pineapple association, gallery 175) and collective (comparison of current art, salon of young painting in the city of Angers).

In 1998 I created in Caen the space "Seize-Anes" a place of practice and exchanges around art.

Two years pass before I start the oceanic, paintings on free canvas with which an essential passage to sculpture takes place.

After having organized the exhibitions "the roundness of being", there is the relation of equality between the coaster and the work of art in its traditional conception, and "this is not a fractal of. .. ", I close the" Seize-Anes "space and change workshops in 2004.

At the end of January 2009, the editorial staff of the review Fusées suggested that I produce twelve "Tigers" in the format of the review for a file on my painting. I accept the challenge. For a year and a half I will mainly paint Tiger Paintings. I left my studio in 2012 to invest space in the family home.

The following year, at the instigation of the printing federation, I set up an engraving workshop at the Yvonne Guégan museum workshops, in Caen. It is currently open.

The years that follow from 2013 to 2020 will be marked with the seal of continuity, and by a series of personal or collective exhibitions in bookstores or galleries with in particular Claude Viallat, Philippe Boutibones, at the dormer window of writers on Paris, the castle de la Roche Guyon, the 1bis gallery, the Le Mesnil Bavent pottery gallery, the st germain gallery in Perpignan, Igda and the Sens gallery in Caen, the Avranches and Pont Farcy biennials, the Boulou in the Eastern Pyrenees.

I have just finished a book from the collection of poor books with the writer Zéno Bianu.

Currently I am working on the edition of an artist's book and I am preparing a painting performance for a theater show on the occasion of the biennial of the artist's book of Dives dur mer, beside which my practice consists to paint.
