Yann Chatelin

Yann Chatelin, painter, urban calligrapher, specialized in the realization of large-scale works in composite formats, lives today in Morocco.

Coming from graffiti, he slowly traded in his aerosols for knives and acrylic. He explores Arabic lettering by learning about Qalam, this pointed reed traditionally used in Persian calligraphy.

Its curves, its accents are all features that it enjoys exploring in full or up. Lettering finds itself hostage to its design, playing with its shapes without considering its meaning; it makes it a perfect vector of expression.
