Born in 1974, Oan Kim is a French photographer.
He studied art at the School of Fine Arts of Paris and musical language at the Conservatoire de Paris.
Oan Kim carries out researches about the thin line separating reality and subjectivity and how they are represented. From this aspect, his work resembles documentary photography.The artist shows a strong interest for the effects of dimness, glare and fogginess, leading him to experiment with all the variations of gray, without ever resorting to white. The use of this color allows him to create a heavy and distressing environment to represent subjects that are quite ordinary.
His work has been quite successful, it has been displayed in Paris, New York, Seoul, Macau etc. He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions. In parallel to his own work, he founded with other photographers the photographers' agency M.Y.O.P in 2005.
