Elene Usdin

A visual artist, Elene Usdin was born in 1971. She graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (class of 1996). Her career began with cinema decor and illustration (press and magazine). She has added photography and has headed towards pluralistic work since 2002.

The artist probes women under all her seams, and distances herself from any sort of etiquette. She makes a clean break from conventions and any kind of stereotypes and her paintings are the meeting place for a art history figure and contemporary decor. Between tribute and parody, the artist offers a self-mockery kind of creation.

A laureate of several awards including the Picto prize in fashion photography in 2006 and honors at the International Photo Award, she also signed her first monograph; Stories, published by Contrejour in 2013. In 2014, the Detroit museum highlighted her work during personal exhibitions: Esther Woerdehoff Gallery (2011 ; 2012 during the Art Paris Art Fair),Arts Graphiques gallery (Femmes d’intérieur en 2009). She has earned her name through major cultural orders : Rencontres internationales d’Arles (2013/2014), Opéra du rhin… and collective exhibitions : Esther Woerdehoff gallery in New York (Aipad Photography Show), Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, Maison européenne de la Photographie, salon de la photo de Paris…
