Presentation

Émilie Bontoux, Hidocq, born May 25, 1977 in the North of France.

I started to work in communication and marketing where disappointed not to be able to express my sensitivity and the real possibility of creating, I launched into what was buried in me: art.

I need the volume, the material to express myself: clay attracts me by its plasticity! I then trained with a ceramist from the region, in filming and with the Art School of Douai in internships as well as with other ceramists or potters. Very quickly, I open my workshop and it is every day that my hands in the material and sometimes faced with questions that I really learn my job.

In this one, I try to constantly explore this incredible matter that is clay. With a preference for porcelain which by its purity, its lightness and its memory of imprints and shapes fascinates me.

My approach is also to transform the material and take it into different universes, to try to push its limits but also mine.

The world around me and nature are sources of inspiration for me, as are words, literature and poetry.

In this work, I bring to light all my emotions and thoughts on our human condition, our fears, our concerns, our questions about the world.

To want to put poetry, emotion, joy in what I undertake and thus be able to trigger in the other an emotion which passes first and simply by the look or by the touch of the material is undoubtedly the quest for my job.
