Vincent Fons

I was born in February 1973, in the southern city of Perpignan.

I started my professional life by following the path and the family heritage. I have devoted a great deal of my time and energy to it.

Almost by chance, at the turn of a very functional need, I discovered the "iron" entity.

From this encounter, between a material, the tools that shape it and the gestures that make the link, I made it a hobby, a passion. I thought, made, created furniture and a little later, decorative objects.

Attracted then pushed by thoughts, emotions, the desire to express, to shape, I then feel the need to create differently. I thus begin to sculpt iron, this material that I find natural, raw, changeable, surprising, warm, alive and reciprocal.

Certain works or artists have echoed in me, for their approach, their personality or their message. I am thinking of Richard Serra, Pierre Soulages, Munch, AI Wewei, Plensa, Vermeer.

Music is a companion of creation, emotions and sensations. I like it eclectic.

By creating, I hope to convey a message or an emotion. An awakening, or a question.

By imagining their scope, I feel the need to create.

It is first of all, the human being, in its complexity, its hazards, its richness and its magic that fascinates me.
