Gérard Ramon

If he assumes a classical heritage, this sculptor has adapted it to his plastic requirements. Copper, bronze and, more recently, steel vibrate under his hand.

Remained away from ephemeral fashions, Gérard Ramon who was a student of Marcel Gimond at the National School of Fine Arts, followed his own path which leads him to express his truth with genuine sincerity. Her art is inhabited by the idea of beauty in the balance of living forms, in the flexibility and voluptuousness of female bodies in their harmonious proportions. In this generous work, the young women are all of life and modesty; their flesh throbs under the light in a work where spontaneity is combined with reflection. Each model with sometimes concise volumes is offered to the eye and through the age of these bodies appears the soul. The massive volumes are organized according to a superb architectural arrangement, such as "L'Eveil" or "Le Jeu", a sculpture-fountain.

An important figure in contemporary statuary, Gérard Ramon reveals reality without copying it and makes us commune with the visible world through the material and his sumptuous, carnal nudes move us. But the artist also knows how to capture the stopped movement: “L'Elan” where the character represented in weightlessness possesses joint strength and lightness. Always in search of new creation throughout his career, Gérard Ramon devoted himself for a time to the technique of shaping copper in sheet and then to working with steel.
