Deçan

Confronted from an early age with death, disease and chaos, Deçan found himself a few years later visiting prisons in areas of armed conflict around the world for the International Red Cross. From Afghanistan to Bosnia, from Somalia to Kosovo, from Serbia to Ethiopia. It was then that he felt the need, as an outlet, to express his emotions through painting. Very marked by my humanitarian experience in the Balkans, he chose to take Deçan as his artist name, in tribute to a city in western Kosovo hard hit by the conflict. The close contact with war, confinement, suffering, torture, isolation nourishes his inspiration. The overpowering mechanisms of resilience developed since childhood cross the singularity of his work. Self-taught, he paints exclusively with a knife and directly on the material, without any other artifice. The physical and instinctive dimension is the foundation of his artistic approach. He seeks raw and disturbing emotion with a single objective: to allow everyone to question themselves on what they are deep down by questioning their own truth or truths. Deçan is a French abstract painter exhibiting in France and Europe. It is also the partner of prestigious companies in the luxury industry around the world.
