Claude Cathray is a sculptor born in Paris in 1948, who currently lives and works in Nimes.
Parellel to her general studies, she took classes of drawing and modeling at the School of Fine Arts. However, she did not start her career as a sculptor until 2004, after a serious car accident. She then relied on the help of Jean Jacques Darbaud to start on her adventure in the world of sculpture.
Movement plays a main role in Claude Cathray's work. She gets inspired by it to create masculine and feminine bodies, of sensual and graceful gestures. Her purpose is to instill the observers the desire to touch her creations, to touch the bronze that emanates so many emotions.
