Cécile Bouvarel

Cécile Bouvarel is a painter and mosaicist. Passionate about painting since she was 8, she studied at the National School of Fine Arts of Lyon and then in Paris, where she respectively obtained a degree in painting and in mosaics. From 1998 to 2000, she was professor at the School of Fine Arts of Arras. She currently lives between Paris and the Cotentin peninsula.

Cécile Bouvarel is fascinated by materials, and art allows her to explore this universe while combining it with painting. Faced with the meticulousness and the work required by mosaic making, the fluidity in her brush strokes contrast with her luminous writtings.
The artist's universe is poetic and oneiric. The tenderness of childhood combines with the finesse of a precise and dexterous work.

Cécile Bouvarel regularly exhibits her work in France. She was awarded the Linossier prize in 1982, in Lyon, as well as three " Grand prix des métiers de la création contemporaine" in 1995 and 1996 granted by SEMA.
