Presentation

Jacques Borker is a French artist born in 1922.

In the ‘50s he has met some artists that determined the course of his career: Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, Jean Lurcat, Jean Picart Le Doux, Zao Wouk Ki, Soulages, Hartung...

After 35 years during which he has devoted his career to the creation of carpets and contemporary tapestries, Jacques Borker became famous through multiple exhibitions in Europe, Asia and the United States.

As a continuation of this practice, his research is directed towards the technique of glass painting (a technique already used 3000 years ago by the Phoenicians); he has replaced the glass with plexiglas, a less fragile material that keeps all the qualities given by transparency and brightness.

His compositions are essentially abstract and decorative, all the while keeping their powerful balance intact; beyond the ephemeral side of styles, his work has reached an incredibly powerful rigor.
