Victoire Cathala was born in 1975, she is a French painter. She has a diploma in decorative arts, she now devotes her time to drawing and painting.
Her experience with sculpture gives rise to tactile, carnal and intense painting. Her works forges links between painting and 3D. Victoire Cathala mixes images, material, objects, environments in order to illustrate her feelings and obsessions. She shapes an abstract universe, bordering human world and the plant kingdom. According to her, skin or the bark are the mediums which connect the exterior with the interior but also naivety with sensuality.
"Through her landscapes, Victoire Cathalan is able to move symptoms of reality and the natural aspect of painting. It becomes much more tactile, incisive while remaining transparent. A beautiful epistemology of the world. A sweet dreamer but relentless while working, Victoire Cathalan proves that an image is always the result of another image.
