Reinhart Mundt

Reinhart Mundt has been involved with artistic photography for many years. From his experiments he created his very own technique, which he calls "Photocubism". These are analog multiple exposures. He shows that reality begins in the creative idea, not in the material. Sculptures, installations and fireworks are also part of his repertoire. He lives and works in Cologne or traveling.

For Reinhart Mundt, the terms life, art and communication are synonyms. He asks us to regard ourselves as spiritual beings and to focus on our original abilities: to create, to contemplate and to communicate.

Since 1983 he has realized numerous art projects and exhibitions in Germany and abroad. He writes philosophical essays and statements on art.

Since 1987 Reinhart Mundt has had various exhibitions (individual and group) in Cologne, Berlin, Aachen, Bonn, Vienna, Moscow, Crimea, Istanbul, Tokyo, Montevideo.

About the photocubistic works of Reinhart Mundt:

Reinhart Mundt began his first serious photographic journey in the fall of 1992. For many years he had mainly created paintings, wall objects and sculptures, moving from figurative to abstraction in Turkey in 1986 and 1987, and was much more interested in the visualization of invisible worlds and energetic processes, than in known forms, things, and surfaces.

Having landed in Cologne, he decided to photograph banal everyday objects, such as a paint bucket, his bicycle, or an aging linden tree that towered over his studio, 20 times from slightly different perspectives.

In the many exposed photographs, he saw things as he perceived and felt: alive, moved, in process. He saw the old linden tree dancing and swaying in the wind instead of appearing frozen and dead, as he often found it unnatural in classical photography. Involuntarily, he had to think of the Chinese, who do not say 'tree' according to our rigid thinking structure, but rather 'it´s treeing', describing the process and the dynamics, not a fixed object.
