Janine Mackenroth's current works with nail polish and other cosmetic articles are to be understood as a commentary on a still male-dominated art world. The materiality and conceptual organization of her works and projects aims to question issues that affect society, the environment, and herself equally.
Mackenroth collaborates with companies such as einzA, myclimate, CHANEL and the IFF for the realization of her projects, with the latter currently working on a fragrance project about the scent of the world. As a co-founder of 100 WOMEN ARTISTS she is publishing a book on "100 artworks by women artists in Germany" for the 100 year anniversary of women at the German art academies in 2020.
