The painter Walter Stöhrer was born in 1937 in Stuttgart and died in 2000 in Taarstedt. In 1952, he studied graphic design then he joined the Academy of Arts in 1955 to study painting in Karlsruhe. He then moved to Berlin where he became a member of the Academy of Arts. For his abstract, dynamic and colorful paintings, he received more than ten prizes including the Berlin Academy of Arts prize in 1976, the Nordhorn city prize in 1982 and the Stuttgart Molfenter prize in 1995. .
