Hannes Forster (* 1955 in Tuttlingen ) is a German artist.

Forster graduated in 1979 from the College of Arts Berlin , where he was one of Herbert Kaufmann's master students. Already during his studies he dealt in depth with the connection between art and architecture and in 1982 won the second prize of a design competition for an open space in Berlin-Kreuzberg . In those years rubble was one of his favorite working materials. Later, he received further assignments and scholarships for construction-related art, where he built architectural models according to their own plans. His works have been shown at numerous symposia and exhibitions since 1982.

During the course of his work, he developed the concept of converting the layouts of his three-dimensional brick installations as negative forms into graphite-painted wooden bodies. This concept he presented u. a. in 2001 at his exhibition Leaning Geometries - dedicated to the square of Kasimir Malevich in the art space no. 10 in Mönchengladbach. Meanwhile, the implementation of any floor plans in such wooden body is the center of his work.

In many places he built architectural installations , e.g. in 1984 the rescue bakery in the Kunstverein Bremerhaven , 1988 The Square for the State Garden Show in Rheda-Wiedenbrück and archeology of the modern era in the House of Art Foundation Baden-Württemberg , 1989 the damage to the mountain in the Kunsthalle Recklinghausen and several brick installations for a solo exhibition in the Museum Abteiberg , 1990 La Legge della Laguna at the Biennale in Venice, 1990 A real false story in the context of the project Material and space on the Moltkeplatz in Moltkeviertel , 1992 Tired walls in the Hagenbucher in Heilbronn and 1993 the controversial installation The mountain calls (mountain damage) (a half-sinking building) in the Bergmannsmuseum in Lünen-Süd . The same year he received a working scholarship by the Berlin Senate. In the following years numerous other installations followed: e.g. in the Westphalian Open Air Museum in Hagen-Selbecke , on the Hoher Fläming Art Walk , as well as in Bialystok and Sao Paulo, Brasil.
