Presentation

Born in Guadeloupe (French Antilles) in 1955, Jean-Claude Eliac is a self-taught painter.

In the 80s, to get even more cultural influences, he left his native island to settle in Paris. In the city of lights, after a visit to a enterprise of advertising signs, he puts his expertise at the service of luxury shops.

In 1988, thanks to his experiences and encounters, he returned to his native island and founded an advertising and communication company. After a long time, he decides to go back to painting.

New technologies, because of his profession of sign maker allow him original creations, whether for the supports or the ingredients used during the achievements.

In perpetual artistic renewal, he combines brush and airbrush as well as new computer software.
However, his works are mainly oils on canvas.

His technique is centered on the practice of the ancient "glacis". He is fascinated by classical painters, da Vinci, Michelangelo also. Although by the surrealism of Dali; and the visionary art of Di Maccio.

He draws his inspiration from the rich and no less painful history of Guadeloupe. Thus, just like his culture, his art is the expression of a multicultural mix that he has managed to appropriate in order to exteriorize and apprehend his heritage, this artistic sensibility is revealed of a rare wealth.

Indeed, it is at the crossroads of European, Amerindian, Caribbean, African and Far Eastern cultures. His work always tells a story, and these stories are alive.

More than ever, he makes his inventiveness the combination of his techniques in a graphic design describing an enlarged vision of consciousness. For Jean-Claude Eliac, Life is the visible part of a universal conscious concept, the Man is the witness, and art the medium between the two.

Art is therefore essential to the realization of Self, it is part of everyone's identity, art and its expressions are part of the World Heritage.

There is always a meeting between art and man. Of course, it is not possible to classify one art or one civilization over another, such as a language or a tradition,

All this is an essential element of Humanity, there is nothing to fear, just to live.

To express one's art is to share, it is to reveal oneself, to be naked, it is to invite the other to do the same, that the real individual identity asserts itself, and also gives way to the common identity human, the Consciousness of being only One.

He lives in Guadeloupe in the commune of Trois-Rivières in Guadeloupe, where the Caribbean Indians have left a very strong legacy to the "Engraved Rocks".
