Presentation
Andre Pierré is considered as one of Haiti's greatest artists and as the pre-eminent painter of the Haitian loas, the worthy successor of noted Hector Hyppolite. His artworks have been reproduced in many books on naive and religious art. He injects rhythms into his works through lines and colors. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Milwaukee Museum of Art, the Figge Art Museum in Iowa, the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, Connecticut, and Ramapo College in Mahwah, New Jersey. (Danticat, Edwige, and Jonathan Demme. Island on Fire. New York: Kaliko Press, 1995).
