Giorgio Ciam (Pont-Saint-Martin, 9 January 1941 – Torino, 13 July 1996) is an Italian painter, sculptor and photographer. Giorgio Ciam was born in Pont-Saint-Martin (Aosta) on 9th January 1941. After completing his studies at the Turin Academy of Fine Arts, he began a series of anthropological research projects through photography, where we see traces, during the first ten years, of theatre or performance. This aspect took form, among other things, in the creation of his “sculture-ambiente” (“environment-sculptures”) and then in his “theatre-sculptures”.

During the1970’s, he was part of the international Body Art movement and interacted frequently with other European participants. He researched extensively into the uses of photography until his death, on 13th July 1996 in Turin.
