Presentation

Francesco Passaniti is a French sculptor from Italian origins, born in 1952 in Reggio, Italy. In 1961, he arrived in France where he lived with his uncle Paolo Polimeno, a painter. He then started studying in Paris and then after a training as a mason he started his professional activity in 1970.
In 1976, he created a construction company and did numerous punctual projects such as the stores and studios of Issey Miyake, Atsuro Tayama, Lapidus and the Zadkine Museum.

Franceso Passaniti uses concrete as main material, he considers it a sensible material capable of retaining accurately the impressions done on it. He appreciates this material which was at first exclusively used in construction due to its minerality, its resistance, its durability and its multiple aesthetic possibilities. To create his pieces, he likes using pebbles and sand and inclusions and pigments that he adds to it.

In 1994, he opened the "Galerie des Bétons Animés" located in the Street of Rosiers in Paris. Since 2005, he has exhibited in numerous shows and galleries in Paris.
