Presentation

Dino Gavina is an Italian designer artist who was born in 1922 and died in 2007.

The artist has marked Italy with his creations in the form of furniture and luminaries. He participated in the consolidation of the "Italian Style" which has been exported to the international market and remains a reference in design today.

A genuine cultural agitator, Dino Gavina met Carlo Mollino, Carlo De Carli and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1953 thanks to Lucio Fontana who introduced them. Together, they designed armchairs before Gavina turned to the creation of lighting.

After a trip to the United States in 1962, Gavina decided to move on to industrial production of his pieces, a serial creation of his flagship models such as the Laccio table, the Reclininh chair or the Wassily armchair. He founded the company Gavina SpA dedicated to the making of furniture. The adventure lasted until 1968, when the company had to close. But from its ashes will arise the company Simon International which distributed designer furniture, including those of Dino Gavina, following a process of assembly of the elements to facilitate its production.

Dino Gavida created a genuine bridge between art and industry and promote Italian design all around the world.
