Born in 1974 - Italy
Gianmaria Giannetti is an Italian poet and painter born in Milan in 1974. He specialized in Aesthetics at the University of Milan, he currently lives between Bari and Genoa. In 2011, He won the Golden Palm of contemporary art in Cannes.
Giannetti's work combines painting and poetry. He plays with words and shapes, combines and juxtaposes opposites such as the square and the circle. This way he creates strange personages, half-human, half-animal, to address the issue of the mystery of creation.
He has done solo exhibitions in numerous galleries in Italy as well as in the rest of Europe and in the United States. Among his most famous exhibitions are: his exhibiton at the Silver P Gallery in New York and at the Monteoliveto Gallery in Naples in 2010. Giannetti also participates in art fairs and group exhibitions; including his participation at the Venice and Cannes Biennale where he won the Golden Palm in 2011. He has also published two books of poetry.
