Born in 1953, Gianni Colosimo lives and works in Turin, Italy.

He starts his artistic career as a performer at the Giorgio Persano's (Turin) gallery, who is one of the most prestigious Italian art dealers; he also takes part in the Bologna Festival and is present at the ICC Antwerp. Afterwards, he realizes Il grande sonno della trapezista (The Deep Sleep of the Trapeze-Artist), at the Galleria Nazionale d?Arte Moderna in Rome, Nebbia di Latte (Milk Fog) at the Castello di Rivoli (Turin, 1984), and Gli amori dei sette peccati (The Loves of the Seven Sins) (1990). He writes a paper about Yves Klein and The Theater of the Void.

After a break, he is back at the Pack Gallery in Milan (2006) where he realizes the installation Wallpaper, il vortice del desiderio è privo d'orizzonte (he vortex of desire has no horizon). he covers the whole gallery in 1-dollar bills.

He takes part in two editions of the Sculpture Biennale in Carrara, in 2008 and 2009. He publishes anonymous aesthetic ads in art magazines such as Artforum, Exibart, Mousse. He is invited to take part in the Venice BIennale in 2011 with the Italian pavilion and in the Alexandria Biennale.

In 2011, he produces the exhibition L'Art contemporain raconté aux enfants (Contemporary Art Told to Children), curated by Patrick Amine, at the Centre Pompidou-Metz.
