Presentation

Ambra Amorosi was born in Florence, Italy, in 1951. Her early paintings were stylistically classical. In the early 1980’s she painted in a hyper-realistic manner. Since 1984 her work assumes an original quality, difficult to classify according to known artistic styles. Using a particular sfumato technique, she tries to transform the subject matter into an absolute form. In 1994 she founded an avant-garde artistic movement, called Estensionism (Es=id), based on these principles. Her first painting exhibition dates back to 1984. Since then she has held many one-man exhibitions and has participated in numerous group shows, both in Italy and abroad.

Morosi has recently exhibited in New York (Caelum Gallery and C.V.B. Space), Cortina d’Ampezzo (Museo delle Regole), Rome (S. Carlo al Corso), Florence (Accademia delle Arti e del Disegno and Museo degli Innocenti), Barcelona (Art Expo), London (The Empire Gallery).

Morosi’s work is included in many private and public collections in Italy, U.S.A., Japan, Poland (Cracovian Museum of Modern Art). In 1990 the prestigious Accademia dei Dioscuri awarded Morosi a prize for her original work.
