Sergio Reggiani (1922-2004) is an outstanding French actor, singer, and painter of Italian origins. He moved to France (to Yvetot in Normandy) at the age of 8. He took his first steps as a hairdresser assistant before enrolling at the Consevatory of Cinematographic Arts. During the 80s, he discovered painting, his new passion, which led him to the doors of his first exhibition in 1991.

He surrounded himself by icons of the seventh art such as: Jean Marais, Jean Cocteau, Simone Signoret (when he played in Casque D'or in 1952). He started his career as an actor in "The Wolf Garou" by Roger Vitrac and then at Britannicus, The Terrible Parents .......during the filming of "the Crossroads of Lost Children" by Leon Joannon, he met actress Janine Darcey, his future wife.The actor also played in the theater where he was very sucessful, specially for his performance in "Le Séquestrés d'Alrona" by Jean Paul Sartre. After his encounter with Jacques Canetti (a friend of Simone Signoret and Yves Montand) , in 1964, Serge Reggiani started singing, a vocation which was very well received by many. For example, by singer Barbara, who invited him to make his first appearance in 1966. Serge Reggiani song songs written by Boris Vian, the sixties-eighties generation identifed with the values song by the singer. He worked with famous composers such as: Jacques Datin, Maxime Le Forestier, Serge Gainsbourg.....and performed in Olympia, the Palace of the Congress, the Francofolies.... in parallel, he exhibited his paintings and worked behind the cameras. He directed (The Cat and the Mouse) by Claude Lelouch and two succesful thrillers by Roger Pigaut "Comptes à rebours" and "Trois milliards sans ascenseur"

Serge Reggiani has said about his painting practice "painting relaxes me, it calms me. I paint in silence. It is a scape for me..... I am a non figurative painter and sometimes the complete opposite, I started painting one day by chance in Mougins. I specially like the sensuality of painting which propagates on a blank canvas".

His career has been rewarded with numerous prizes: 1st prize in comedy in 1938, Victoire d'Honneur in 2003, la cravate de commandeur de l’Odre du Mérite by Jacques Chirac. Serge Reggiani also made two autobiographical books. By the end of the 80s, numerous personalities decided to dedicate an album to him "About Serge Reggiani".
