Daniele Cestari

Daniele Cestari is an Italian artist, born in 1983 in Ferrara, Italy. He studied at Liceo Scientifico and obtained a diploma in architecture and « Urban Environmental Planning » in 2009. He also taught himself photography and painting.

He was aware that his artistic training was strictly limited to his academic architecture studies, Cestari underlines the fact that one has to understand the work beforehand, just like an "architecture who paints". Cestari depicts his architectural passions on the canvas, his fascination for urban environmental energy. Dynamism of brush strokes and blurry canvases of Cestari highlight the city, as a living entity which is in constant evolution. Through his paintings, he tries to express the true character of the city.

The key for a possible interpretation of his paintings is the love for the unknown and distant lands, where the only dynamic aspect is given through cars that pass by, and the effects of light and shadow. Cestari uses various techniques: oil, pencil, acrylic and varnish, to create a work as varied as the city itself. Often, he begins his work with ancient, deteriorated canvases, sewn or pervaded of their own story, and tries to combine these already existing traces in his work. According to Cestari, we are the brushes and the pencils of our own city, each step on the street, is an added trace in history.
