Utamaro is first of all an artist, but he is also an animation director, illustrator, graphic designer, textile designer, and art director, born in Japan and now based in New York, He is part of the new generation of young Japanese artists that challenge the traditional boundaries of art. His distinctive ultra pop and technicolor style expresses the explosive energy in his works that are created based on his three concepts: celebration, freedom, and limitlessness. He recently took part in an art event for Syrian refugees at the UN headquarters in New York City. He has also collaborated with for many years with Murakami Takashi and directed Pharrell Williams music videos “it Girl", and also worked on Japanese movies and magazines as an art director. He has exhibited his art works in Paris in 2017 for the first time and has participated at the Urban Art Fair in Paris in 2017 and 2018.
