Haruna Hijikata

Haruna Hijikata was born in 1988 in Chiba Prefecture. She began creating dolls through personal introspection around 2008. Hijikata dolls, made of stone powder and terra cotta, have resigned eyes and indolent, painful limbs. “Lurking in the shadows” according to Hijikata, they reveal the artist's intimate feelings. You can almost hear the feeling of loneliness erupt in a scream through their spherical joints. Such a cry is not a simple emotional eruption of feelings: it is calm like the snow which falls silently and which accumulates, like the internal part of the doll, filled with the prayers of the artist, buried under its polished skin. .
