Presentation

He was born on March 31, 1973 in Culiacan. From a very young age he seems to be seduced by the Orient. The paradoxes of the interspatial exoticism of Japan, the white found in the immense canvases which contrast against the lacquered ceramics with its extreme colors. After studying visual art in La Esmeralda, in the city of México, he sets out on a journey where he crosses the ocean to reach the other end - in Japan so adored -. He lived in Tokyo as well as in the Kyoto Paused Order, where he attended the University of Art and Design. The years spent in Japan have a great influence on his work. Between tradition and artificial, the ritual and the disjointed, it suffers from a transformation which leads it to become a sign, machine and work. He cultivated and trained his body and led a rigorous diet that turned him into a superman. He leads the representation of the body to the highest extent; the man works, the artist works, the body works, and the body works. He tattooed the forearm with the legend “Untitled”, to also convert the world in its personal extension: everything that will be signaled with his arm will become, a work of art in a formal and conceptual exercise that extends to the 'infinite. It is a gesture which is both mechanical and divine (a parody of the detail of Michelangelo's fresco in the Sistine Chapel) which overflows into nothingness, denies the obvious, takes on the new. He turns it into a symbolic and physical ellipse: he performs an operation where he withdraws the navel. Transforming a gesture into action, he sublimates and transcends it; it is no longer him but someone else, anyone. In his abdomen, a new scar with the legend “Unborn”. Not being born is the immortal fact, and its work is the direct extension of that immortality. He has had 36 individual exhibitions and participated in more than 150 collectives. His works have been shown at the Guggenheim museum, at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, at the Museum of Modern Art in Sapporo, At the Tamayo museum, museum of modern art and at the Carrillo Gil museum in Mexico City. He is one of the founders of Mexartfest: the most important Mexican art festival in Asia, and directs the Concentrado group dedicated to the renovation of the Historic Center of Mexico City.
