Bernard de Wolff

Born in Amsterdam in 1955, Bernard de Wolff lives and works between Amsterdam, Paramaribo and Paris. Between 1982 and 1988 he studied art history and classical archeology at the University of Amsterdam. He exhibited in 1982 in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the United States, ... Bernard de Wolff's work is characterized by its impressionism, while using expressive techniques. Oil painting is not only a means of creating an impression on the canvas, but as a substance it is also an essential part of the artwork; Oil painting is present, visible, tangible. This painter of landscapes, nudes, animals, is in the lineage of Monet and Eugène Leroy: an extraordinary analysis of light and a very present material, which give figurative canvases full of sensitivity, at the limits of the 'abstraction.
