Jacek Hazuka

Born in 1959 - Poland

Jacek Hazuka was born in Tarnow (Poland), in 1959. He graduated from Secondary School of Art in Tarnow, Kielce and ‘Kenar’ School in Zakopane (1974 – 1980). He studied in the Academy of Art in Krakow but left in 1981 and emigrated, first to Liege (Belgium) then to Paris (France). Today he lives and works in Lille. He has presented his paintings at many individual and group exhibitions in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France and England. His works can be found in many private collections in Europe, USA and Australia.

Jacek Hazuka is the painter of cities, he has science, secrecy. How do we explain the paradox which emerges? We are faced with a sensitive science, which approaches and masters all the domains : light, water, crowd, history, fate, and the totality of their impacts. A total and perfectly moving science, which correspond to the exact and fundamental definition of art.

Jacek Hazuka weakens the street, destabilizes it, threatens to disintegrate it, dilutes it and so makes it admit its intrinsic sensibility. To mourn the street, to lead it to a state of complete nudity and truth... The light, its hatching, is the ultimate judge, Jacek Hazuka seizes it only if it really appears : the naturalism and the occurrence are the priority. From then on, it does much more than glorify : it separates, divides, elects or announces, denounces, instils with regret, and thus takes its full dimension.
