Miroslaw Piotrowski (born 1942, died 2002)
Polish graphic artist, professor of visual arts, general laureate of graphics residencies.
He was born in Warsaw. During the Warsaw Uprising, the Nazis took him and his mother to the camp in Freiburg, from where in January 1945 they managed to escape. After the war, he settled with his parents in Slupsk.
He studied drawing at the Teachers' College in Kolobrzeg, in 1965 based on the qualifications of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun. He obtained his diploma in 1970 in the studio of prof. Edmund Piotrowicz and prof. Ryszard Krzywka. In June 1970, he was an assistant at the Department of Graphic Arts under prof. Edmund Piotrowicz. In 1978 he passed the qualification test for the post of assistant professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In the years 1987-1990 he was the deputy dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Nicolaus Copernicus University.
Piotrowski's works are included in the collections of, among others National Museum in Gdansk, National Library in Warsaw, Library of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture and Art of the Czech Republic, Ministry of Culture and Art of Russia, Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade, Museum of Art in Kapsovár and private collections.
Works of art have been exhibited at exhibitions and individual exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including in Germany, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Australia, Belgium and Hungary.
