David Rosado

Born in 1976 and originally from Natural Evora, Portugal, he now lives and works in Lisbon. Graduated in 2004 from the University of Fine Arts of Evora in painting and multimedia art, he has exhibited his work for more than 20 years. In 2007 he exhibited at the Palace Galveias, where he obtained 3rd place for the Ariane de Rothschild Prize. He then became known in Italy during two exhibitions organized by the Voghera11 gallery (Milan) and then in Spain with the Pedro Torres gallery. His works were also presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Malaga “Portugal: Open Window to the World” in February 2016, in New York in 2011 (Michal Lyons Wier Gallery), in Lisbon in 2010 on the occasion of 'a project of architecture, contemporary art and experimental cinema and in 2009 (Pedro Serrenho Gallery), but also in London (Carlos Carvalho Gallery). On the other hand, he is represented in many public and private collections, such as in the Ariane de Rothschild Banque Privée collection, Alcatel-Lucent, Portugal, but also in a Lisbon law firm (Soussa Machado Ferreira da Costa e Associados). He also participated in 2012 in the Art Basel event in Switzerland with ARTspace and in the ARTrio fair with TAC gallery (Rio de Janeiro). He is an artist who likes to renew himself, he systematically searches for new ways of creating. Even if his productions may have the appearance of pop culture, Rosado claims not to be inspired by it. He draws his poetry from the world and the elements that surround it and that he likes to analyze. His work aims to redefine images present in our current world and often obtained on the internet. He uses various materials that he chooses depending on what makes sense of his work. “I don't have a favorite technique or material. I try to use all the materials without any rules or restrictions ”. Through his works, he establishes a definite link between urban art and contemporary art. He is a rigorous artist, believing in the work and the benefits that errors can bring, he devotes himself to his poetry eight hours a day. Rosado works layer by layer with details specific to each painting. Often he does not prepare sketches and launches himself directly on the surface of the canvas, this is how ideas come to him. Its goal is to achieve a level of harmony and balance in visible chaos.
