Goce Trajkovski

Born in 1982 in Bitola, Macedonia, Goce Trajkovski graduated in Skopje and obtained an MA degree in graphic art from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. With a great part of his work, Trajkovski has steadily devoted himself to portraiture. He seeks out specific traits in humans and their outstanding characters. For him, a good portrait is by no means just a snapshot of reality, but above all a revelation of characters. He does not try to idealize his models, but rather exposes them. He is most interested in immigrants, people who have switched their homeland and are trying to establish themselves abroad by identifying themselves with the new living and working environment. The artist also experiences such a story personally, which is why he is even more adamant in self portraiture and, if necessary, convincingly achieved by irony. In any case, portraits are fascinating chapter in his art, as they are the result of a determined and solid painting discourse, leaning against the noble tradition of master painters from past centuries. Body of work relies stylistically partly on the proven realism, partly on the modern version of expressionism, is undeniably socially engaged and socially critical. As in other related paintings, there are also present and prominent highlights that undoubtedly lead us to the essentials of the message. Trajkovski also believes that good painting is only one that is imbued with suggestiveness. Only in this way can it take over the viewer by offering him a clear message as a value. Throughout his artistic career Trajkovski has many solo and group exhibitions and for his work he received many awards.
