Mario Marini is a Spanish painter, sculptor and engraver born in 1955 in Valencia. He currently lives and works in Madrid.
His work concentrates a profusion of materials, colors and objects. His technical mastery allows him to play with the contrasts and the visual illusions all while retaining a very geometric style. Collage, painting, engraving, sculpture... Nothing scares Mario Marini.
The artist integrates a temporal dimension in his work, especially due to the use of oxidizable materials. His creations are altered with time: the minutes, hours, months and the years modify them, deteriorate them, make them grow. Time spares nothing and nobody, and that is what Mario Marini wants to remind us.
His canvases are abstract and dominated by the colors red, gold, black and gray. Harmonious in spite of the profusion of visual elements, they produce intense and profound emotions in the viewer.
