Xose Casal is a young Spanish photographer born in Vigo in 1976. Today he lives and works in Girona.
Xose Casal started to take photos as a teenager, exploring the alchemy of black and white photographic processing. After a 10 year break, he went back to photography in the digital era; today he favors in landscape photography and long exposure.
Since 2014 Xose Casal has been taking part in photography competitions, receiving numerous awards in national and international competitions, including two prizes of the International Federation of Photographic Art (Blue Pin and gold medal FIAP), a Gold Medal awarded by the Photographic Society America, the UPI Gold Medal, the gold medal of the prestigious Austrian Super Circuit Trierenberg as well as the gold medal awarded by the Spanish Confederation of Photography (CEF).
Other notable awards include a first prize at the XIIIth Photographic Competition "La Avutarda" (Parla, Madrid), a 2nd prize in the Photography Competition Joaquin Gil XXXI Marraco (Zaragoza), finalist in the XXth national photo contest - Prize of the City of Cordoba Mosque, Accesit in the VIth International Photography Contest Asisa and two first prizes in the photo contest Quillat 42 (Blanes).
Xose Casal's work is part of public and private collections. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions.
